Summary

Kitchen Time Capsule was part of Artists in the Kitchen, in which 50 local teams of all-women artists/chef-restaurateurs joined forces in an innovative partnership where chefs inspired artists to create new textile-based artworks, culminating in an exhibition.

I was partnered with Kara Doucette of Yelp MSP. Our discussions focused on the importance of community engagement in our work as Yelp Community Manager and Public Artist. Kitchen Time Capsule translated the Yelp forum into an interactive artwork where the garment served as a platform for participation. The artist invited audiences to pin a one-word exhibition response onto the coat, which she then affixed permanently. The piece became a record of Artists in the Kitchen and a celebration of the chef-artist collaborations.

The piece evolved over time, and the artist was present for engagement opportunities on the following dates:

Thursday, March 29, 6-7pm

Saturday, April 21, 7-9pm

Saturday, May 12, 2-4pm
