BIO

Erin Lavelle (she/her/hers) is a public artist working in interdisciplinary media: fiber arts, installation, performance and storytelling/listening. Her work is informed by regular yoga and mindfulness practices, as well as a background in theatrical direction and design. Recurring themes include impermanence and interconnectedness, and social change.

Solo work has been focused on intimate exchanges within the public sphere — in libraries, galleries, storefronts and front yards. Collaborations have included large-scale installations and interactive performance projects at festivals, breweries, events and public parks with regular collaborator Anthony Chapin, among others. Lavelle has worked with Art Shanty Projects, Hennepin County Libraries, Hennepin Theatre Trust, Intermedia Arts, Lanesboro Arts, Northern Lights.mn and Textile Center, as well as self-producing many projects.

Lavelle serves in leadership capacities as Producer of the Northern Spark Festival and Artistic Director of Art Shanty Projects; awards include a Hemera Foundation Tending Space Fellowship for Contemplative Artists and a Jerome Foundation Emerging Fiber Arts Grant. She holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and resides in Minneapolis, MN.
